The Julia's Wings Foundation has announced its fundraising efforts at the Pumpkin Run Oct. 26.

Festivities will begin with a kid's fun run at 11:15 a.m., followed by a 5-mile run/walk at noon.

The USATF-certified course will begin at Kent Town Hall with live music, refreshments and more.

JWF was founded by the Malsin family in Sherman following the loss of their daughter, Julia, 13, after a year-long battle against Aplastic Anemia, which is a rare bone marrow failure disease.

This year, the foundation has the opportunity to partner with the Aplastic Anemia and MDS International Foundation to create a named research fund.

They will match the foundation's fundraising dollars up to $60,000. The research fund will be called the Julia Malsin Research Fund.

JWF, a nonprofit organization, provides financial assistance to families of children with life- threatening hematological diseases and to medical professionals for healthcare research.
