Joseph Stanley Pruchnik, 69, of Sherman, died Jan. 18 at New Milford Hospital.

Mr. Pruchnik was born April 26, 1943, in New Milford, son of the late Stanley and Helen Tencza Pruchnik. He graduated from New Milford High School, Class of 1962.

Since age 16, he resided at Happy Acres Farm in Sherman, where he worked alongside his dear friend Tony Hapanowich, caring for the cows and the farm he so thoroughly enjoyed.

Mr. Pruchnik retired in 1997 from the state of Connecticut Department of Transportation after 37 years of service.

He is survived by his brother, Frank Pruchnik Sr.; a sister-in-law, Dolly; two nephews, Denis Pruchnik and Frank Pruchnik Jr.; a niece, Laurie Pruchnik; two great-nieces, Amber Pruchnik and Elizabeth Grimaldi; a great-nephew, Jesse Pruchnik; one uncle and several aunts and cousins.
