Joseph James Margaitis, 75, of Lakeside, died Nov. 3 at St. Mary's Hospital in Waterbury.

He was born June 6, 1938, to Joseph and Patricia Margaitis in Lakeside.

He was a carpenter foreman in the United States Marine Corps, touring the Pacific Islands. He received a Good Conduct Medal.

He worked as a machine operator at Scovill Manufacturing and Kimberly-Clark Corp.

He was an avid fisherman, and loved hunting, gardening and the Boston Red Sox.

He is survived by his children, Heather LoVaglio, and her husband, William; Todd Margaitis, and his wife, Linda; a grandson, Blaine; two sisters, Patricia and Maryellen Margaitis; two brothers, Gregory, and his wife, Michelle; and John Margaitis, and his wife, Marion; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and his wife, Joan Margaitis.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place Nov. 8 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Church in Litchfield. Burial will follow in Warren Cemetery.

Rowe Funeral home in Litchfield is in charge of arrangements.
