John F. Douglas Sr., 81, had been a Marine

Mr. Douglas was born April 23, 1929, in Stamford, to the late James and Catherine (Lathrope) Douglas.
Known to his family as Dziadziu (Polish for grandfather) and Jack to his friends, Mr. Douglas enjoyed telling jokes, playing bocce and cheering on the UConn Huskies women's basketball team.
He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1952 to 1954.
Prior to his retirement, he worked as a supervisor of manufacturing for Bunker-Ramo in Stamford and Trumbull.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, John F. Douglas Jr., of Bethel, Cathy (Douglas) DeBroske, of New Milford, and Patricia (Douglas) Provino, of Guilford, N.H.; a brother, Raymond Douglas, of Stamford; a sister, Joan (Douglas) Tegeder, of Toms River, N.J.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by three brothers, James Douglas, Robert Douglas and Matthew Douglas.
The Bethel Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
