Joan Woodin, 80, was New Milford High graduate

Joan Josephine (Flynn) Woodin, 80, of Kent, died Feb. 26, 2011, at Candlewood Valley Health and Rehabilitation Center in New Milford, with her husband, Thomas R. Woodin Jr., her two daughters, Leanne and Robin, her son-in-law, Terry, and her nephew, Danny, by her side.

Mrs. Woodin was born Aug. 2, 1930, in White Plains, N.Y., to John and Maude Flynn. She was the youngest of 12 children.

On Jan. 27, 2011, Tom and Joan celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.

Together, she and Tom raised six children, Leanne Krebs, Thomas Woodin III, Robin McBreairty, Heather Morsey, Stephen Woodin and Brett Woodin.

Mrs. Woodin is also survived by a brother, Eugene Flynn; 19 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a grandson, David Varga.

Mrs. Woodin, who was a resident of Kent for 15 years, was a graduate of New Milford High School.

She enjoyed bird-watching, gardening and collecting elephants.

A service will be held today (Friday) at 1 p.m. at the Colonial Funeral Home, 87 Park Lane Road, New Milford.

Friends may call at the home one hour prior to the service.
