Jay A Solomon, 72, of New Milford, died of heart failure Aug. 28, 2011, at New Milford Hospital.

Mr. Solomon was born Feb. 9, 1939, in Hartford, and raised by his late parents, Samuel and Ann Solomon, in Colchester.

Mr. Solomon moved to Bronx, N.Y., after high school. He was a United States Army Veteran.

In 1965, he finally set his roots in New Milford, where he raised his family and was a real estate broker, having owned Gold Bond Realty.

He was a member of the Board of Realtors for 40-plus years.

Mr. Solomon was an active commissioner on the New Milford Parks and Recreation Department for almost 30 years.

He played softball with Beers Realty through the 1990s. After retiring from softball, he attended many games as a spectator.

Mr. Solomon was an avid fan of the New York Yankees, a tradition passed down to him from his father, and passed on to his children and grandchildren. He loved pampering his beloved little dog, Annie.

Mr. Solomon is survived by three sons, Mark Solomon, and his wife, Lori, Dana Solomon, and Dean Solomon, and his wife, Tania; a daughter, Heidi Solomon; and three grandsons, Ty, Nicholas, and Holt Solomon.

The Lillis Funeral Home New Milford was in charge of arrangements.
