The Kent Energy & Environmental Task Force will offer two workshops -- one geared to the professional and another geared to the homeowner -- with Marc Rosenbaum this month.

Mr. Rosenbaum is director of engineering at South Mountain Company on Martha's Vineyard and former principal of Energysmiths.

An MIT graduate, Mr. Rosenbaum is a frequent presenter on sustainable design at many conferences.

Mr. Rosenbaum will give a lecture, "Zero Net Energy Homes, Deep Energy Retrofits and Passive Houses," April 26 at 7:30 p.m. at Kent School's Dickinson Science Auditorium, off Route 341 West.

Admission will be $5.

Mr. Rosenbaum will present an all-day workshop for professionals, "Deep Energy Retrofit," April 27 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Kent town hall on Kent Green.

The workshop will focus on deep-energy retrofits of homes and other building types. Frame construction and masonry buildings will be discussed.

Mechanical systems for low-load retrofits, focusing on ventilation and mini split heat pumps, will be covered.

Participants are encouraged to bring their own examples and situations for the group to resolve.

The workshop may qualify participants for continuing education units.
