Irene Toussaint, 89, was devoted to her family

Irene (Zack) Toussaint, 89, of Danbury, died Sept. 25 at her home. She was the wife of Philip Toussaint.

She was born Oct. 6, 1921, in Danbury, the daughter of the late John and Anna (Sveda) Zack.

She worked at Sikorsky Aircraft during World War II, helping to support her family. She later worked for Neumann Engler Hat Shop and Kimberly-Clark.

She was known as a loving homemaker who devoted herself to her husband and her family.

In addition to her husband of 67 years, she is survived by a daughter, Nancy DeMunnik, and her husband, Gregory, of Danbury; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Pauline Souza, of Arizona; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Richard.

Burial was at St. Peter Cemetery in Danbury.

The Cornell Memorial Home in Danbury was in charge of arrangements.
