The Loft Gallery at The Smithy in New Preston is presenting a new exhibit, “Inside Out,” through Feb. 21.

The exhibit represents Connecticut-based professional photographers Ellen Hoverkamp, Kate Uhry, Anita Garnett, Mio Akashi, Judithy Secco and Jack O’Connell, as well as the work of Jonathan Beckerman, who specializes in local farm animals and garden vegetables.

Painted works, including abstracts by Jennifer Sabella and Suzan Scott, watercolors by Zeb Mayer and Diana Swoyer, and modern-impressionist oils by Mark Devlin, Edith LaMonica Skiba, Joan Morosani and Carolyn Hartman are included.

The next exhibit, “Second Nature,” will open Feb. 27 with a reception from 4 to 6 p.m.

The show, which will run through April 3, will feature works by painter Heather Scofield.

Scofield moved from Ohio to Kent in the early 1990s and became part of the Kent School community, where her husband teaches art.

Surrounded by the beauty of New England and the Northwest Corner and Maine where she spends her summers, Scofield was inspired to paint landscapes.

She most recently exhibited her paintings as an elected artist at the Kent Art Association's elected artists show and at the Akin Museum's “Meeting Past” show in Pawling, N.Y., and had a solo exhibit at the Kent Memorial Library.
