Lifelong resident Harry Taylor Jr. served his hometown of New Milford in many ways throughout his life. His career began at 14 sweeping and stocking shelves at H.H. Taylor & Son on Railroad Street, and he became president in 1970, and held that position until his death at age 86 in May of this year. He was also active in the community, serving in many capacities, including having been a longtime member and past chief of Water Witch Hose Co. No. 2. In recognition of Taylor's community service and the impact he had on Shawn Emmons of Emmons Tree & Landscaping Services, Emmons recently donated a white oak in Taylor's honor. The tree was planted Nov. 17 on the south end of the Village Green.
