The Northwestern Youth Hockey Pee Wee 'A' Ice Hawks put the finishing touches on a memorable youth ice hockey campaign last weekend by winning the Connecticut Hockey Conference (CHC) Tier III 'B' state championship.

The Ice Hawks entered the tournament as the number one seed with their glossy 13-0-1 regular-season ledger in CHC competition.

The Greater New Milford area youths lived up to their billing by outscoring five tournament opponents by a cumulative 25-10 margin, a weekend cruise tarnished only by a 4-4 draw with the Middlesex Red Devils.

Sandwiching that deadlock were wins over Yale, 10-0; the Greater New Haven Warriors, 5-3; the Watertown Red Wings, 3-2; and the Southeastern Seahawks, 3-1.

Goals in the championship match were scored by Marissa McLaughlin, Brian Manzer and Tommy Nisco

Alex Fortuna ably handled the goaltending chores.

The Pee-Wee 'A' Ice Hawks completed the season with an overall 28-5-7 ledger.
