Several holiday events will take place in Kent in the coming days:

Several are on tap Dec. 15.

Offerings will include photographs with Santa -- bring a camera -- from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Backcountry Outfitters at 5 Bridge St.; a cookie sale and photographs with Santa at the Kent Children's Center at 99 N. Main St.; and cookie decorating at the children's center from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.

The Kent Volunteer Fire Department will host the Parade of Lights at 6 p.m.

The parade will start at the Green, proceed down Main Street, turn onto Maple Street and conclude at the firehouse, where food and drinks will be served.

Participating merchants will be open until 8 p.m.

There will be horse-drawn carriage rides Dec. 16 from noon to 3 p.m. at Kent Greenhouse & Gardens, with stops at Kent Coffee & Chocolate, the Fife 'n' Drum and N.M. Watson Wild Bird Supply.

Kent Memorial Library's holiday boutique is open Mondays through Fridays from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Dec. 22 at the Main Street library.

Patrons can purchase a variety of items, including childrens books, magnets, teddy bears, scarves, journals, note/holiday cards, jigsaw puzzles, small books for stocking stuffers and a large selection of other books.
