The Neapolitan creche, located outside the home of Charles and Dayle Elsesser, will be lighted tomorrow (Saturday).

The schedule of events is as follows:

The Gaylordsville United Methodist Church on Route 7 will host its Christmas fair next Friday, Dec. 7, from 7 to 9 p.m. and next Saturday, Dec. 8, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The event will feature the sale of quilts, handcrafted items and ornaments, wall hangings, a nearly new sale, a silent auction, children's activities, a "cookie walk," and a luncheon and dessert room.

A painting by Anthony Faranda of Gaylordsville will be included in the silent auction.

Donations of cookies for the cookie walk may be dropped off at the church anytime Friday or Saturday.

The Merwinsville Hotel will open its "Christmas in Gaylordsville" celebration with a reception Friday, Dec. 7, from 7 to 9 p.m.

The historic Brown's Forge Road hotel will also be open Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 8-9, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with a variety of activities each day.

The hotel will be decorated to resemble Santa's workshop.

Decorations will include a collection of Byers Carolers, Dickens Villagers, nutcrackers, music boxes, snow globes and Christmas trees.

The opening reception will feature music by New York City cabaret singer Judith Ann Graham and refreshments.

A variety of holiday and winter themed art, crafts and photographs will be available to purchase in the gift shop, which will be open Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Children's story time will be offered Saturday and Sunday at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Ms. Graham will make an appearance Saturday to sing carols.

Mrs. Claus' bakery and caf� will serve baked goods, meat and vegetarian chili and beverages Saturday and Sunday.

Patrons may visit with Santa's youngest son, Nathan, while enjoying a variety of refreshments over the weekend.

Admission to the reception will be $10, while admission to the events the following two days will be free.

The Gaylordsville Historical Society will hold an open house Saturday, Dec. 8, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Little Red Schoolhouse, located on Gaylord Road.

The historical society's 2007 ornament, featuring the Gaylordsville United Methodist Church, will be available to purchase.

In addition, Christmas cards of the Red Schoolhouse and other note cards will be sold.

Hot cider and cookies will be served.

Members of senior Girl Scout Troop No. 257 will conduct a craft-making session.

�The Gaylordsville Volunteer Fire Department and its Ladies Auxiliary will host a ham dinner Saturday, Dec. 8, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the firehouse, located on Route 7, just north of the Gaylordsville bridge.

Tickets are $12 for adults and $6 for children 2 to 14. Children under 2 will be admitted for free.

�The community Christmas tree will be lighted Saturday, Dec. 8, at 7 p.m.

The Ladies Auxiliary of the fire department will serve hot chocolate and cookies.

Caroling will follow.

�The life-sized cr�che, created by the Elsessers,will be lighted tomorrow at 5 p.m. at the Elsessers' home on Gaylord Road.

From then on, the cr�che will be lit from 5 to 11 p.m. every night except Christmas Eve, Christmas and New Year's Eve, when it will be lit until 1 a.m.
