The New Milford Historical Society & Museum will celebrate its 100th anniversary with a gala May 16 from 6 to 10 p.m.
The event, which will take place at Lake Waramaug Country Club in New Preston, will include a cocktail hour and silent auction from 6 to 7 p.m., followed by dinner.
In addition, the event features a cabaret act, "A Century of Song," by local musician Hank Milligan.
The performance will include short readings by members of the New Milford Historical Society & Museum, featuring world events, national news and New Milford happenings of each decade from 1915 to the present day.
A souvenir program book will include these snippets of history, as well as the songs selected for each decade and played by Milligan.
Seven elected officials who represent the town of New Milford locally, statewide or in the U.S. Congress have been invited to attend.
The Centennial Gala chairwoman is Nettie R. McKenna, and the Centennial Gala Committee includes Carolyn Critelli, Carolyn Haglund, Patricia Hembrook, Patricia Lathrope, Hilary McKenna, Sally Milligan and Marla Scribner.
Space is limited to the first 100 who purchase tickets, which are $100.
