Historical society announces programs

The New Milford Historical Society & Museum has announced its 2012 events.
The First Friday Walking Tour Series will kick off June 1 at 6 p.m.
Walks will begin at 6 p.m. at the historical society and continue to various locations in town.
Walks will be held June 1 with Legard Waldrop, who will lead a walk to Bank Street; July 6 with Bob Coppola, who will walk along the Village Green; Aug. 3 with Pam Edwards, who will caravan to Canterbury School to learn about the former Ingleside School; and Sept. 7 with a guest and location to be determined.
The museum will be open June 9 from 1 to 4 p.m. as part of a statewide event. Admission will be free that day.
The children's high tea and party based on the theme of Peter Rabbit and friends scheduled for June 10 at 11:30 a.m. has been rescheduled for June 24 from 1 to 3 p.m.
The program will feature the violin students Kathy Kelly-Koch, a reading of "The Tale of Peter Rabbit," Peter Rabbit-themed cupcakes, sandwiches and other treats, and dance instruction of the Bunny Hop.
Children will take home a teacup and saucer and a copy of the book.
Admission is $10
The New Milford Outdoor Art Festival will be held June 16 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and June 17 from noon to 5 p.m. on the Village Green.
