Herbert Homes, 86, worked in TV industry
Herbert Homes, 86, of Bronxville, N.Y., and Nantucket, Mass., died peacefully after a brief illness on June 5. He was the husband of Shirley Williams Homes.
Born Nov. 21, 1926, in New York City, he was a graduate of the High School of Music and Art and NYU Business School.
A World War II veteran, he worked in the television industry for more than 60 years, starting as a producer/director, and most recently as the director of labor relations at WNET Channel 13.
After retiring at 80, the big-city boy was never more at home than with his family at his summer home. He cherished nothing more than being surrounded by all who loved him.
In addition to his wife of 64 years, he is survived by a daughter and granddaughter, Pat and Alexandra Catchpole, of New Milford; a son, Peter, and his wife, Gina Homes, of Leesburg, Va., and their children Jessica, Jeffrey, Judith, Jenn and JR; many nieces and nephews and a fan club too big to list.
A memorial gathering will take place June 15 at 1 p.m. at McGrath Funeral Home, 20 Cedar St. in Bronxville.
