Herbert Brinckerhoff, 84, served in World War II
Herbert `Brinck' Brinckerhoff, 84, of Bethel, died Sept. 20, 2011, after a brief illness.
Mr. Brinckerhoff was born July 14, 1927, in Danbury, son of the late H. Everett and Margaret (Boughton) Brinckerhoff.
He grew up in Redding, where he lived for most of his life. After a number of years residing in Deep River and Old Saybrook, he spent the last 18 months living with family in Bethel.
Mr. Brinckerhoff served in the Navy during World War II. After the war, he worked in the construction industry for many years.
Since his retirement, he had divided his time between visiting friends and family and his hobbies of gardening, landscaping, and tinkering.
Mr. Brinckerhoff is survived by a sister, Jane Pisapia, of Winchester, N.H.; a brother, Derek Brinckerhoff, and his wife, Hester, of Santa Fe, N.M.; two daughters, Gretchen Brinckerhoff, of New Milford, and Heidi Daignault, and her husband, Mark, of Bethel; a stepdaughter, Susan Daley, of Fishkill N.Y.; a grandson, Eric Zanard, of Bethel; and many nieces, and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Margaret "Peggy" Shannon.
A celebration of a life will be held tomorrow (Saturday) at 11:30 a.m. at the Hull Funeral Home, 215 Greenwood Ave., Bethel. Brightly colored attire is encouraged.
Burial will be private.
