Harrybrooke Park in New Milford hosted a “Mardi Gras Murder Mystery” fundraising party in its Harden House Museum.

The event had a couples-based theme.

Harrybrooke, known for its outdoor themed events in the warm weather, is now showcasing the Harden House Museum as a venue for cocktail parties, weddings and even company gatherings and team building.

“It’s important to find new and fun ideas to draw attention to the needs of the park and the museum,” said Harrybrooke Executive Director Billy Buckbee.

“We were able to raise dollars and awareness in a new way with many new faces to the park,” he said. “This is an idea we will certainly do again.

“Everyone was in character for the entire night and we incorporated a scavenger hunt for clues,” the executive director said. “All we got back from the guests were positive comments, and I think we’re on to something unique here.”

The park is now looking into more alternative use concepts to raise dollars and draw volunteers.

Corporate team building day retreats are on the future list for the house, as well as wine, whiskey and beer tastings.
