The not-for-profit Friends of Harrybrooke Park in New Milford will hold the inaugural Harrybrooke Park Peacock Golf Classic Aug. 12.

To assist with raising funds for the numerous needed renovations and upgrades to the open-year-round-at-no-fee park, the FOHP are turning to their neighbors at Candlewood Valley Country Club for help.

“People love Harrybrooke Park”, said Billy Buckbee, park spokesman and fund-raising coordinator.

“After a great conversation with CVCC, we felt this was the perfect fit and worth taking a swing,” he said.

For $159, each golfer will receive three meals, contests, prizes and golfing.

Harrybrooke Park was donated to “the people of the Town of New Milford” by Frank A. Harden in 1965.

Through the Friends of Harrybrooke Park, the park receives roughly 10,000 hours of volunteer assistance annually and is attempting to make further repairs and additions in the next year to maintain the Harden House Museum, two event pavilions, a duck pond, nature trails, wetlands, a walking/bicycling loop plus scenic views of the Still River.
