Housatonic Valley Association will hold its annual meeting and awards ceremony Nov. 2 at 10 a.m. in Cornwall.

The meeting at the United Church of Christ Parish House at 8 Bolton Road will feature a talk on climate change by Dr. William H. Schlesinger, president of the Cary Institute of Ecosystem Studies.

Dr. Schlesinger is one of the foremost experts on climate change, having been among the first to quantify carbon held in soils globally and subsequently estimating the role of soils and human impacts on forests in global climate change.

HVA will present: the Montgomery Hare Environmental Advocate Award to Greg Bollard and Friends of the Lake for their advocacy on behalf of Lake Lillinonah and the Housatonic River to reduce nutrient pollution and working to achieve consensus among many different stakeholders, and to Lori Brown, executive director of the Connecticut League of Conservation Voters; the Litchfield Hills Greenprint Award to Peter Litwin, Litchfield Land Trust president; the Corporate Environmental Leadership Award to Crane & Company; and the Volunteer of the Year Award to Lynn Stonebridge.
