HORSE of Connecticut in Washington will hold a basic horse care clinic Oct. 7 from 10 a.m. to noon.

The clinic at HORSE (horseofct.org) is recommended for individuals who are thinking about getting a horse or are a new horse owner.

The hands-on clinic will address proper handling and grooming, taking a horses temperature, worming, hoof and dental care, and diet requirements.

A veterinarian will be present to examine Zeus, one of the organization’s newest rescues.

There will also be a discussion on fencing and proper shelter.

Tours of the farm will also be offered.

The cost for the clinic is $10.
