Land developer Philip Farmer plans to break ground in two weeks for a shopping center at 125 Danbury Road in New Milford.
An Aldi Market will serve as the anchor store for the Route 7 South site, according to the Washington resident.
Mr. Farmer received final approval May 18 from the State Traffic Commission and expects to close the deal with Aldi in the next 30 days.
The Aldi Market will be the first of three planned businesses to go into the site, just north of Lore's Plaza.
"Receiving the state traffic approval was a major hurdle accomplished," Mr. Farmer said Tuesday. "There's always other things that can come up but I don't foresee any problems as we move forward."
Aldi Market, a discount supermarket chain based in Illinois, signed a contract to purchase 1.3 acres of the Danbury Road site in 2009.
A company spokesman, Heather Tarczan, confirmed the deal with Mr. Farmer is waiting for final closing. Aldi Market plans to open in the New Milford location in 2011.
