To the Editor:
On April 9, Kent Wine & Spirit held its sixth annual Kent Spring Wine Tasting to benefit the Kent Land Trust.
The event — now a highly anticipated tradition — took place in the Kent Barns Gallery, gloriously transformed for the evening with stunning architectural furnishings and garden follies by Kent’s RT Facts.
KLT is exceptionally thankful to Ira Smith and his proficient staff at Kent Wine & Spirit including Casey Kern, Jenn Hill and Jackie Clark, and to RT Facts proprietors Natalie and Greg Randall and their staff.
Gracious thanks are also due J.P. Gifford Market & Catering Company for delicious cheese and accompaniments, Kent Greenhouse & Gardens for seasonal arrangements, and Goodfellow Property Management for the use of the Gallery space.
We appreciate Ira’s thoughtful selection of wines for sampling and the vendor representatives who served and educated guests: Christian Dalbavie of Taittinger Champagne, Matt Groski of Worldwide Wines, Doug Rankin of Missing Link Wines, Michael Kane of Rosenthal Wine Merchant, Jim Brewer of Winebow, Richard Luftig of Pied-À-Terre Wines, Banning Donohue of Monsieur Touton Selections, Michael Carleton of Transatlantic Bubbles, Giuseppe Caputo of CDI Imports, Paul Nerz of Vineyard Brands, Mary Donovan of Pasternak, and Pam and Jack Baker of Litchfield Distillery.
And we are grateful to community volunteers who made certain that the event ran smoothly: Darlene Brady, Mary Ann VanValkenburg, Lorry Schiesel, Melissa and Darrell Cherniske, Nancy and Jack Rafferty, Alicia and Matt Winter, Bruce Whipple, Katherine Starr, Katherine McGuire, Ryan Nugent, Lans Christensen, and Gwynne Seufert.
Proceeds from the event, including 100 percent of ticket sales and a portion of wine sales, benefit KLT’s stewardship program to support and maintain over 2,500 protected acres.
Wine sampled at the event continues to be available for sale at special rates at Kent Wine & Spirit, with continued benefit to KLT.
Most of all, we thank our guests and donors, who have made this such a successful and fun seasonal tradition. KLT toasts your good health and continued enjoyment of Kent’s exceptional beauty and natural environment.
