The Northville Volunteer Fire Department has announced it has received a grant from the Ellen Knowles Harcourt Foundation.

The grant will provide funds toward the purchase of vehicle extrication equipment. The newly designed tools will be capable of cutting and manipulating the materials being used in newly designed automobiles. Many current tools do not have the strength or power to be used on the newer vehicles.

The new equipment will be used on a new fire engine the department will receive this summer.

“Words are powerless to express our gratitude and complete appreciation of this grant and the work that goes into it at every level,” said NVFD Chief Alan Harris.
