Gloria Swanson Hudson, 69, of Fletcher, N.C., formerly of Kent, died Jan. 29, 2012, at her home. She was the widow of John C Hudson.

Mrs. Hudson was born April 16, 1942, in New Milford, the daughter of the late Gerald Swanson and Katherine and Stanley Thompson.

She was known as Gloria, Sis, Glo, Mom, Gram and Great-Gram Glo.

She was known for her great smile, laughter, great jokes and most of all for her love of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Hudson was active in fundraising for food banks, her church, fire departments, the United Way and many other community projects.

Mrs. Hudson is survived by two sons, Michael McCarroll, and his wife Kathi, and John Jones, and his wife, Bonnie; three daughters, Rene Norris, and her husband, Kevin, Leona Harwell, and her husband, Jeff, and Lori Penland; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Keil Thompson; a sister, Helen Hedden, and her husband, Steve; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Gerald Swanson.

Services were Feb. 2 in Fletcher..
