Giving campaign to aid nonprofits

Many nonprofit organizations from Greater New Milford will participate in the Connecticut Community Foundation's third annual online giving challenge, "Give Local Greater Waterbury and Litchfield Hills," Tuesday, May 5, at 7 a.m. through Wednesday, May 6, at 7 p.m.

Each nonprofit has created a profile that donors can access at beginning Tuesday at 7 a.m.

All donations will be enhanced by nearly $100,000 in bonus funds, which will be divided among the participating nonprofits in proportion to their share of the dollars raised through online Give Local donations.

In addition, nonprofits will be eligible for over $50,000 in cash prizes.

Participating local organizations will include Animal Welfare Society Inc. in New Milford, Artists in Motion, the Children's Center of New Milford, Community Caring in Bridgewater, the Community Culinary School of Northwestern Connecticut, Gunn Memorial Library Inc., Harrybrooke Park, the Housatonic Valley Association, Hunt Hill Farm Trust, the Institute for American Indian Studies, Judea Garden, Literacy Volunteers on the Green, Little Britches Therapeutic Riding, Inc., Loaves & Fishes Hospitality House, the Merryall Community Center Inc., Merwinsville Hotel Restoration Inc., MVP-SOS, New Milford Historical Society Inc., New Milford River Trail Association Inc., New Milford Senior Citizens Advisory Board, New Milford Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice, Oratory of Little Way Inc., Pet Assistance in New Preston, the Pratt Nature Center, Robotics And Beyond, Roxbury Land Trust, Steep Rock Association Inc., TheatreWorks New Milford, Warren Historical Society, Warren Land Trust, Warren Public Library, Washington Ambulance Association, Washington Art Association, Washington Environmental Council Inc., Washington Friends of Music and Weantinoge Heritage Land Trust.
