Giovanni Cerra, 37, of Concord, N.C., formerly of Danbury, husband of Mary (Moreyra) Cerra, died Oct. 7 at his home after a brief illness.

Mr. Cerra was born in Italy, son of Maria (Aiello) Cerra and the late Francesco Cerra. He came to the United States with his parents as a child and graduated from Immaculate High School.

He lived in Danbury prior moving to Concord, with his work at Verizon Wireless.

He enjoyed the music of Elvis Presley and the Bee Gees and was an avid soccer fan, especially the soccer team Sampdoria.

He was a member of Our Lady of the Rosary Chapel in Monroe.

In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by his sons, Christian and Antonio, of Concord, and his brother, Carlo Cerra, of New Milford. He was predeceased by his infant daughter Anastasia.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated today (Friday) at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of the Rosary Chapel, Monroe. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury.

The Green Funeral Home in Danbury is in charge of arrangements.
