George L. Adams, 70, lived in Sherman

George L. Adams, 70, of Sherman, formerly a 32-year resident of New Milford, died April 8. He was the husband of Dianne Adams.

Mr. Adams was born Dec. 16, 1940, in Port Chester, N.Y., son of the late Leonard Adams and Phyllis (Thrasher) Adams.

He graduated from White Plains High School in White Plains, N.Y., in 1958 with high honors.

He married Dianne (Delfini) Adams on April 21, 1963.

Mr. Adams was known to go out of his way for others and for putting his family first.

He was an insurance investigator and held captain's, private investigator and civil defense licenses.

Mr. Adams was a member of the NRA and the Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Children. He was recently elected vice president of the descendants of Merrill's Marauders.

In his younger days, he was an altar boy and was a devout Roman Catholic his entire life.

In addition to his wife of 48 years, Mr. Adams is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Leann and Brian Skoczylas; a daughter, Valerie Adams, and her two sons, Adam and Devin Sara; a daughter and son-in- law, Deena and Randy Sears, and their two daughters and son, Amanda, Sydney and Russell Sears; a son and daughter-in-law, George D. and Becky Adams, and their son and daughter, Dawson and Olivia Adams; two sisters, Maureen Bonds and Gail Fontanella; and twin brothers, Leon Adams and Leonard Adams; and three nephews, Maurice Adams, Lenny Adams and Danny Adams.

The Lillis Funeral Home of New Milford was in charge of arrangements.
