Gaylordville Christmas festival this weekend

and includes Christmas caroling, a tree lighting ceremony and the lighting off the Neapolitan Creche, among other events.
And, said Gaylordsville Historical Society President Richard Kosier , "We have a feeling Santa is going to show up this year for the kids - and adults."
According to Kosier, the festival began about four years ago. Over the past few years, the event has become a popular community event, often drawing people from throughout the region.
"It's just a way to bring people up to Gaylordsville to see what a cool little place it is," said Kosier. "People come from all over to see the Creche. It is definitely a family outing."
The Gaylordsville United Methodist Church will host a Christmas Bazaar on Friday, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The bazaar will feature the sale of new and used items, handmade items and the wares of outside vendors as well as a cookie walk/bake sale, silent auction, the sale of shares in the church's Appalachian Service Project.
On Saturday, 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., a luncheon will be offered featuring food provided by the American Pie Co. of Sherman . There will also be a children's room with free activities.
All Christmas Bazaar events will take place at the Gaylordsville United Methodist Church, 685 Kent Road. Events will also take place at the Merwinsville Railroad Hotel, 1 Browns Forge Road, which will be transformed into Santa's workshop and home. Children's Story hour at the hotel is at 11 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday and the hotel will be open from 6-9 p.m. on Friday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday for those wishing to view the decorations or purchase items from the gift shop.
Also on Saturday are the lighting of the Creche at the Elsenner property on Gaylordsville Road and the Volunteer Fire Department's annual ham dinner.
