Gaylordsville will host its fourth annual holiday celebration Dec. 6 and 7.

The schedule of events is as follows:

äThe Gaylordsville United Methodist Church on Route 7 will host its Christmas fair Dec. 6 from 7 to 9 p.m. and Dec. 7 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The event will feature the sale of quilts, handcrafted items and ornaments, wall hangings, a nearly new sale, a silent auction, children's activities, a "cookie walk," and a luncheon and dessert room.

Donations of cookies for the cookie walk may be dropped off at the church anytime next Friday or Saturday.

äThe Merwinsville Hotel will open its "Christmas in Gaylordsville" celebration with a reception next Friday from 7 to 9 p.m.

The historic Brown's Forge Road hotel will also be open Dec. 6 and 7 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with a variety of activities each day.

The hotel will be decorated resemble Santa's workshop.

A variety of holiday and winter themed art, crafts and photographs will be available to purchase in the gift shop.

Mrs. Claus' bakery and café will serve food.

Admission to the reception will be $10, while admission to the events the following two days will be free.

äThe Gaylordsville Historical Society will hold an open house Dec. 6 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Little Red Schoolhouse, located on Gaylord Road.

The historical society's 2008 ornament, featuring the Little Red Schoolhouse, will be available to purchase.

In addition, Christmas cards of the Red Schoolhouse and other note cards will be sold.

Hot cider and cookies will be served.

äThe Gaylordsville Volunteer Fire Department and its Ladies Auxiliary will host a roast beef and ham dinner Dec. 6 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the firehouse, located on Route 7, just north of the Gaylordsville bridge.

Accompanying side dishes will be served.

Tickets are $12 for adults and $8 for children 6 to 12. Children under 5 will be admitted for free.

äThe community Christmas tree will be lighted Dec. 6 at 7 p.m.

The Ladies Auxiliary of the fire department will serve hot chocolate and cookies.

Caroling will follow.

äThe life-sized crèche, created by the Elsessers, will be lighted Dec. 6 at 5 p.m. at the Elsessers' home on Gaylord Road.

From then on, the crèche will be lit from 5 to 11 p.m. every night except Christmas Eve, Christmas and New Year's Eve, when it will be lit until 1 a.m.
