Gaylordsville man charged for fire in holding cell
NEW MILFORD — A 50 year old Gaylordsville man was arraigned Monday on domestic violence charges and with setting fire to his cell in the men’s detention area of the New Milford Police Department.
Gary Shott, of Hebert Drive, Gaylordsville was arrested early Saturday morning when police responded to his residence for a disturbance. Shott was charged with disorderly conduct/simple assault, second-degree unlawful restraint and third-degree assault/minor injury.
He was being held on $20,000 bond in the men’s detention area of the New Milford Police department when a fire was reported at abut 2:30 a.m. Saturday in cell #1, the cell where Shott was being held, police said. The fire was extinguished without injuries.
Shott was also charged with criminal mischief and held on an initial $5,000 bond for the fire incident, according to police.
He was arraigned Monday morning in Superior Court in Bantam.
