Gallery 25 in New Milford presents paintings by artist Laura Brown

NEW MILFORD — Gallery 25 and Creative Arts Studio presents “Gazing at Clouds,” acrylic pour paintings by artist Laura Brown (aka “Lulu Belle”). Working with acrylic pour paints is like magic, as the artist watches the colors blend in the most incredible ways to bring hues both bold and pastel, shapes and forms, an announcement said.

The Featured Artist Show will run through Sept. 26. The opening reception is Saturday, Sept. 11, from 1-4 p.m.

Gallery 25 is located at 11 Railroad Street in New Milford and is sponsored by the New Milford Commission on the Arts. For more information, visit www.gallery25ct.com.

As a medium, Acrylic Pour Paintings are a contemporary art form and unlike some conventional techniques, the artist is not in control of the final product, the announcement said.

“As an artist, if I can make people think or be excited about my art because it touches our inner child in some way, I am honored and have done my job,” said Brown.

Laura Brown has always been drawn to the colors in nature - an oak leaf changing in fall, the colors of the sky at sunset or the complex colors of a Labradorite gemstone, the announcement said.

In 2014, she discovered acrylic pouring. Having studied and experimented with it, she has now mastered it, but still experiments and pushes herself to the next level, the announcement said.

Brown also has created a YouTube channel called Date Night With Lulu Belle. The idea behind the channel is to provide instruction on the different techniques so people can do them at home.

The “Indian Summer” show by members of Gallery 25 continues with paintings and photographs featuring a range from contemporary to traditional including local scenes and cards; functional and artistic pottery, wood and glass plus a range of jewelry.
