Francis Severance Jr., 81, loved to fly planes
Mr. Severance was born Aug. 11, 1929, in Lewiston, Maine, son of Francis M. and Alice (Whitmore) Severance. He attended schools in Ellsworth, Maine.
He served with the Army Air Force from 1946-48, including being stationed at Hickam Air Field, Honolulu, Hawaii.
Mr. Severance worked for many years as a body and fender man in many auto body shops. He also enjoyed cutting and selling firewood.
He loved to fly, and, over the years, had owned and flown many planes.
Mr. Severance was a member of the Aircraft Owners & Pilots Association.
He was married to the former Joyce Yarrish Sept. 3, 1965, in Brewster, N.Y. She died in September of 1986.
Mr. Severance is survived by a daughter, Kathleen Sauvageau, of New Milford; three sons, Thomas, of Turner, Maine, Joseph, of Connecticut, and Francis Severance III, of Skowhegan, Maine; many grandchildren; and a brother, Roland Severance, of California.
Services will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
Interment will be in the St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, New Milford.
