Frances L. Kershaw, 86, of New Milford, died Oct. 17 in Mystic, where she was living with her daughter, Mary Olmsted, and her husband, Dwight. She had survived abdominal cancer in 1989 and had been fighting lung cancer.

She was the widow of Robert A. Kershaw.

Mrs. Kershaw was a partner in Country Asphalt, Landscape Contracting in New Milford for many years.

Mrs. Kershaw was born June 28, 1926, on her family's farm in Sherman, daughter of Alex and Jennie Lescynski.

She was a longtime member of St. John's Episcopal Church in New Milford.

Mrs. Kershaw loved life, her family and her friends.

She is survived by two daughters, Mary Olmsted, and her husband, Dwight, of Mystic; Nancy Marese, and her husband, Philip, of Ball Ground, Ga.; a son, William Kershaw, of Fortson, Ga.; two grandchildren, Christine Neal, and her husband, Roger, of Georgia, and Laura Christiansen, and her husband, Adam, of Missouri; seven great-grandchildren, Mathew, Jessica, Nathan, Blaze, Adam, Emily and Neil; four brothers, Leo, and his wife, Rita; Frank, and his wife, Anna; Tom and William; two sisters, Dottie and Kathryn; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by two brothers, Steve and Alex, and four sisters, Mary, Helen, Cecelia and Julia.

A celebration of her life will take place next summer.
