Flora Rylander Corrigan, 84, Kent resident

Flora Bernice Rylander Corrigan, 84, of Kent, passed away peacefully in her sleep after a lovely day visiting with her family Feb. 7, 2011, at the The Kent Health Care Center. She was the wife of the late Richard J. Rylander and the late Gerald F. Corrigan.
Mrs. Corrigan was born in Rhinebeck, N.Y, Dec. 31, 1926, daughter of the late Carl and Alice Cashner Day.
She worked for many years at Eaton Consolidated Control and was proud of her work. Mrs. Corrigan was also employed for many years at W.T. Grant in New Milford.
Mrs. Corrigan enjoyed spending time with her family. She was proud of all her children and grandchildren and beamed when she spoke of them.
She enjoyed taking care of her birds and going for walks.
She loved the opera, especially her favorite, Carmen.
She enjoyed visiting the shore and traveling, with the highlight being a wonderful trip to Ireland with her husband, Gerry.
Mrs. Corrigan is survived by four daughters, Sheryll Robb and husband Dan of Kent, June Grechika and husband Gary of Litchfield, Debra Rylander of Kent and Barbara Rylander of Kent; a brother, Alan Day; two sisters, Betty Day and Ruth Piersall; her grandchildren, Meghan Robb and husband Tony Amon of Kent, Stephanie Robb Grusauski and husband Dave of Kent, Mary Robb Cox and husband John of Kent, Jeff Foster and wife Catherine of Brookfield, Daniel Foster and wife Elizabeth of Sharon, Sara Reynolds and husband Dave of Northfield, and Rana Justice Rylander Strawson of Torrington; and her step-grandchildren, Gerald Corrigan Jr. and wife Melanie, Jeffrey Corrigan and wife Carol, Thomas Corrigan and wife Marisa, and Margaret Towne and husband Alan. She is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren, 12 step-grandchildren and seven step-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Corrigan's funeral service and burial took place at the Center Cemetery in New Milford.
Arrangements were handled by the Lillis Funeral Home, 58 Bridge Street, New Milford.
