The village center has been the heartbeat of New Milford's business community throughout the town's history. This photograph circa the 1930s offers a glimpse from the Village Green at Bank Street, lined on both sides as it usually is these days by parked cars. To the right is Park Pharmacy, the predecessor to the Slone Pharmacy, which in turn was renamed New Milford Pharmacy several years ago. Just down Bank Street was Markoff's shoe store and, a bit farther to the west, the historic Bank Street Theatre. The Spectrum frequently publishes historic photos of the Greater New Milford area. Those who would like to loan or contribute a photo should bring it to Norm Cummings at The Spectrum office at 45B Main St. If the photo is to be returned, please leave a phone number and mailing address.
