Firefighters quell garage blaze in Roxbury
The efforts of firefighters from five area volunteer fire departments were needed Sunday, Aug. 9 to stamp out a garage fire in Roxbury.
A motorist traveling along Route 317 near Good Hill Farm Airport first reported the blaze after seeing a thick column of black smoke in the area.
The home's garage was fully engulfed when crews arrived, prompting firefighters from Washington, Bridgewater, Woodbury and Southbury fire departments to be called for assistance, Wheeler said.
In all, approximately 40 firefighters responded to extinguish the fire. There were no injuries.
Two vehicles were destroyed.
The cause of the fire had not been determined, but fire officials were set early this week to investigate, Wheeler said.
