The New Milford fire marshal's office and local fire departments have announced Fire Prevention Day will be held Sept. 30 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Activities will take place at Home Depot on Danbury Road (Route 7).

The lineup will include a landing by LifeStar helicopter at 10 a.m., hands-on cooking fire extinguisher training at 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m., a K9 demonstration at 10:45 a.m., a live burns of mock living rooms at 11 a.m., hands-on fire extinguisher training at 11:30 a.m. and a vehicle extrication demonstration at noon.

Smoke detector classes and build-a-fire-truck workshops for kids will be offered throughout the event.

In addition, fire departments, New Milford Community Ambulance, New Milford Police Department, CERT, Addie the Dalmation, the Connecticut State Police fire investigation van and accelerant detection K9 and Candlewood Lake Authority will participate.

Fire trucks will be on display.

Kicks 105.5 will be on hand.
