Residents of the Greater New Milford area are invited to attend Fire Prevention Day activities Sunday, Oct. 18 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Home Depot on Route 7 in New Milford.

The event is coordinated by the fire marshal's office and sponsored by the fire marshal's office and the Water Witch Hose Co. No. 2, Northville and Gaylordsville volunteer fire departments.

Festivities will include displays of fire trucks, fire equipment, medical equipment and the state police arson investigation van, games, a children's safety trailer, handouts, fire truck kit giveaways, food, visits with Spanner the Dalmation, face painting, music with I95, state police Convincer simulation rides, a LifeStar landing, a mock fire demonstration, a mock vehicle extrication and fire extinguisher training with a Bullex life fire system.

LifeStar is expected to land at 10 a.m. and stay until 2 p.m., weather and emergency calls permitting.

The mock fire will be held at 11:30 a.m. and the extrication will take place at 12:30 p.m.
