FineLine Theatre Arts in New Milford will stage its 13th annual production of “The Nutcracker” Dec. 21 at 7 p.m. and Dec. 22 at 1 and 6 p.m.

The performance will be staged at New Milford High School on Route 7 South.

“This beloved tradition is here to stay,” said FineLine founders Elizabeth Parkinson and Scott Wise. “It is an amazing training experience for our pre-professional dancers, and the enthusiasm our young students exhibit during their rehearsals and performances is a joy to behold.”

Every September, under the direction of Kerry Gallagher, FineLine pre-professional and professional division dancers audition for the various solo and principal roles.

The principal roles are danced by the most senior FineLine students.

This year the cast will include Ashley Mulhare of Roxbury as the Sugar Plum Fairy, Ashley Andreotto of New Milford as Clara, Bobby Roda of Bethel as the Nutcracker Prince, Angelia Prip of Brookfield as the Snow Queen and Jilliene Seymour of Bantam as the Dew Drop Fairy.

Choreography is created by FineLine faculty Arlene Begelman, Elizabeth Cox- Frabizzio, Gallagher, Ocean Severini, Parkinson and Wise.

Costumes, many created by Monica Harcken of Monica’s Corner in downtown New Milford, are coordinated by Mary Mercer and Kerry Schur.

The New Milford High School theater production team tends to the lights and stage craft.

Students prepare for the performances on New Milford High School stage by performing for local elementary and middle school assemblies.

This year they will appear at Northville Elementary School on Dec. 20.

FineLine Theatre Arts will also play host to local senior centers in a continued effort to interact with the surrounding communities.

The FineLine production of “The Nutcracker” will be presented with an abridged first act and has a running time of approximately two hours.

General admission is $20. Tickets for students and senior citizens are $15. Children under 12 will be admitted for free. Tickets will be available at the door.
