A Field of Honor -- a large display of American flags -- will be on exhibit Nov. 4 through Dec. 8 on the grounds of the New Milford Historical Society & Museum.

In addition, the museum is presenting a small exhibit, "In Honor of Our Veterans," through Nov. 11.

The flags will serve as a reminder and a tribute to veterans who have served and presently serve.

The flag exhibit, organized by the Kiwanis Club Foundation of Greater Danbury, will be comprised of at least 200 3-foot-by-5-foot American flags. A yellow ribbon will be attached to flags.

Residents are invited to sponsor a flag for $30, four flags for $100 or $500 for more.

A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the various nonprofit organizations in New Milford taking part in selling the flags, including the Girl Scouts, the Boy Scouts and the New Milford Historical Society.

Included in the museum's indoor exhibit are a grouping of very rare medals and patches and stone sculpture on loan from local Vietnam veteran Ray Crawford.

The indoor exhibit may be seen Tuesdays through Thursdays from noon to 3 p.m. at the 6 Aspetuck Ave. museum. For more information, call the museum at 860-354-3069.
