Fern McKenney, 84, was a retired bookkeeper
Fern Ruth McKenney, 84, died July 13, 2010, following a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was the wife of 67 years to Kenneth R. McKenney, of Lakeland, Fla.
Mrs. McKenney was born July 25, 1925, in Burlington, Vt., to the late George and Ruth Ridley.
She retired in 1989 as a bookkeeper and moved from New Milford to Lakeland, where she enjoyed her retirement for the last 26 years.
Mrs. McKenney enjoyed golfing, knitting and bingo.
She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Lakeland.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. McKenney is survived by two sons, Ken McKenney, and his wife, Pat, of Ocala, Fla., and Don McKenney, and his wife, Lynn, of New London, Wis.; a daughter, Cheryl Williams, and her husband Jim, of Kent; five grandchildren, Jamie, Jason, Kristian, Shelley, Shane and Austin; and four great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two brothers, George Ridley and Gordon Ridley.
The Lakeland Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens of Lakeland was in charge of arrangements.
