The Friends of the Roxbury Senior Center will host a self-guided farm tour Sept. 11 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The rain date is Sept. 12.

Tickets, maps and brochures can be picked up at 9:30 a.m. at the Roxbury Senior Center at 7 South St.

The family event will feature visits to five Roxbury farms, including an organic vegetable farm, one of the oldest farms in the United States, one that sells high-quality meats, one that shows Scottish Highland cattle and one that has a museum of antique tractors and farm machinery.

Guides and farmer-owners will talk about the farms and snacks will be available at each farm.

In addition to the farms, the sale of baked goods, plants, books by local authors and other goods will be available and a light lunch will be offered for $5 at the senior center.

The nearby Roxbury Museum and an historic meat market will also be open to visitors.

Tickets are $18 in advance and $20 the day of the event. Children under 16 will be admitted for free.

Proceeds will benefit Roxbury's Senior Center programs and activities.

Checks may be mailed to the Friends of the Roxbury Senior Center, P. O. Box 114, Roxbury, CT 06783.
