New Milford Mayor Pete Bass has announced that Connecticut Freedom of Information training for all town employees and public officials will be held Feb. 6.

Thomas Hennick, public education officer for the Connecticut FOI Commission, will hold two workshops, one at 2:30 p.m. for town employees and one at 6 p.m. for elected and appointed officials.

The 6 p.m. workshop will be held at Sarah Noble Intermediate School on Sunny Valley Road.

The public is also invited to the evening workshop, which will feature a presentation and a question and answer session.

“Freedom of Information is an important area of government and public service,” Mayor Bass said.

“I am excited that New Milford will be utilizing this training, offered by the state, for the first time ever,” he said.

“Mr. Hennick’s training will allow everyone serving our citizens to be well informed and up to date when it comes to FOI regulations,” the mayor explained. “The public’s right to know takes high priority.”
