Extends thanks to all for Village Fair Days
To the Editor:
This year marked the 51st anniversary of Village Fair Days. We wish to extend our gratitude and appreciation to everyone who helped contribute to this community event.
Thank you to our chairman, Jennifer Birdseye, and co-chairmen, Laura Lewis and Scott Mulhare.
Thank you to our volunteers who clocked in over 500 hours of community service — our Village Fair Days Committee, the Grid Iron Club, New Milford Wrestling Association and Boy Scout Troop 58.
Thank you to our vendors and their volunteers. Thank you to everyone who helped provide attractions on Bank Street — the downtown merchants for their specials and sidewalk sales; Paradice Classic Cruisers of New Milford’s car show; and Touch A Truck with New Milford Police Department, New Milford Ambulance Corps., All American Waste, and Water Witch Hose Company #2.
Thank you for the infrastructure support from Advanced Electric, All American Waste, Culligan Water, Kimberly-Clark Corporation, Village Center for the Arts, GeronNursing & Respite Care, and YardApes. Thank you NMPD, Chief Boyne, New Milford Ambulance Corps., New Milford Parks & Recreation Department, New Milford Public Works, and Fire Marshal Brian Ohmen. Thank you for helping us promote the fair Paul Garlasco, Guendelsberger Law Office, New Milford Fitness & Aquatics, J&R Appliances, New Milford United Methodist Church, and Marandola Fuel.
Thank you, Mayor Pete Bass, Town Council, the Traffic Authority, the New Milford Senior Center, State Representative Bill Buckbee (R-67th), Phair Haldin and The Children’s Center.
Thank you to our fitness demonstrators Phys-Ed Health Club and Hong’s Olympic Taekwondo Academy.
Thank you to Judge Marty Landgrebe for hosting town hall tours.
Thank you Danbury and New Milford Rotary for providing the Amber Alert Child Identification Program.
Thank you to Bill Hunniford and American Pie for the pie eating contest.
Thank you to our local music talent — RecOn Campers, Bucks Rock Creative & Performing Arts Camp, TheatreWorks Kids, Ivan & Alex Antropov-Kalashnikov, The Blue Yodels, Jonathan Chapman, Heather & Tobias, The Drive-by Licks, and The Trevor Anthony Band.
Thank you Kevin and Beth Koschel with Musikman DJ Entertainment.
Thank you to our T-shirt sponsors 19Main, Bakewell & Mulhare, Bank Street Theater, Bloom Yoga, Coldwell Banker, DAR, Dental Associates, FineLine Theatre Arts, Full Circle Promos, Massage by Dorothyann, New Milford Assembly of God, New Milford Counseling Center, New Milford River Trail, Petro, Regional YMCA, Sunny Valley Preserve, The Abbey Restaurant, Union Savings Bank, Village Center for the Arts, Webster Bank and Wetmore’s.
As you can see, our fair is aptly named as it certainly does “take a village” to bring it all together. We thank everyone in our village.
Village Fair Days is a fundraiser for the Greater New Milford Chamber of Commerce, a nonprofit organization under 501(c) (6) of the Internal Revenue Code and is incorporated under the laws of the State of Connecticut.
The mission of the GNMCC is to encourage, promote and aid in the development of the commercial, industrial and general business interests of the community, and to promote the civic interests and general welfare of the greater New Milford area (New Milford and its trade area) while embracing a non-political position on all issues.
The money we raise from the fair helps us offset costs associated with the community events that the Chamber runs each year as well as allows us to donate $5,000 in scholarships each year to local graduating seniors.
Thank you for your support and thank you for being part of our community and village.
