Deer Pond on Wakeman Hill Road in Sherman will offer a variety of programs in the coming days.

They will include the ground and trails being open July 6 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and a guided bird walk with Cathy Hagadorn, director, and Jim Arrigoni, conservation biologist, at 10 a.m.; “Birds & More: Ecology Walks” July 11 from 7 to 9 p.m. and July 27 from 8 to 10 p.m.; a plant walk July 12 at 9 a.m.; an advanced volunteer training session for bird monitoring and data collection July 12 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.; a hike July 17 from 9 a.m. to noon; an early morning bird walk July 20 at 8 a.m., July 25 at 8 a.m. and July 31 at 8 a.m. ; and a family friendly walk July 28 at 10 a.m.

In addition, a grand grounds opening will be held July 7 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Festivities will include an early morning bird walk with Patrick Comins, executive director, and Jim Arrigoni, conservation biologist, at 8 a.m.; opening remarks and a welcome with a Wriston tribute and ribbon cutting at 10 a.m.; Skyhunters in Flight Birds of Prey demonstration 10:30 a.m.; and guided bird walks at 11:30 a.m.
