The Brookfield Library will present a slideshow documentary about the creation of Candlewood Lake in the late 1920s.

Authors Susan Murphy and Gary Smolen will lead the June 26 program and sell copies of their book, with proceeds to benefit the Candlewood Lake Authority, at the Route 25 library.

The event, which starts at at 2 p.m., is part of the One Book, One Lake summer reading program in New Milford, Sherman, Brookfield, Danbury and New Fairfield.

To commemorate the 150th anniversary of the beginning of the Civil War, residents from the Greater New Milford and Danbury areas are invited to read "The Killer Angels" by Michael Shaara as part of the One Book, One Lake program.

The book is available at the libraries in each of the communities.
