Eugene Frederick Gallagher, 78, of Oriental, N.C., died peacefully at home Aug. 2, 2010.
Mr. Gallagher was born Oct. 21, 1931, in Danbury.
He served in Korea and was an avid fisherman and dog lover.
He is survived by his wife, Mavis J. Gallagher; four children, Kathleen, and her husband, Dick Murchison, of Danbury, Daniel T. Gallagher, of Mary Alice, Ky., Barbara, and her husband, Manfred Kolba, of Woodbury, and Timothy, and Yvette Gallagher, of New Milford; three step-children, Roxy Bloomberg, James Jenkins and Garry Sandlin, of New Bern, N.C.; five grandchildren, Carie Forlastro, Michael Roveto, Shannon Abernethy, Emma Gallagher and Ryley Gallagher; one great-grandchild, Brady Gallagher; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held tomorrow (Saturday) at 1 to 3 p.m. at Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to the American Lung Association, 45 Ash St., Hartford, CT 06108-3272 or an Animal Shelter of one's choice.
