The After School Arts Program in Washington, which serves northwestern Connecticut, is accepting submissions for its ninth annual Celebration of Young Photographers through Oct. 1.

The free event will be held Nov. 17 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Bryan Memorial Town Hall in Washington Depot.

The exhibition will then move to The Judy Black Memorial Park and Gardens for a two-week extended viewing.

The top four photographers will be recognized for their outstanding work and will receive the 2019 Dylan’s Wings Photography Award and a special prize.

Students in grades 6-12 are invited to submit a photo based on this year’s theme: current moond.

Entrants should ask these questions: How does your photography represent this specific moment in time and your unique perspective? What is your mood? How are you feeling/how do you relate to the world around you at this moment (inspired, frustrated, loved, empowered, suppressed, hopeful, etc.)? Share your images of family, identity, politics, community, environment, landscape, friendship or anything else that is relevant to you.

ASAP! encourages entrants to submit up to two photos.

Photographs taken on an iPhone should be sure the setting is set to HDR (High Dynamic Range) and that it meets the size requirements on the submission guidelines.
