Andrew Porter and Jennifer O’Brien recently announced their engagement.

The future bride, who was raised in Mendham, N.J., is the daughter of John and Joan O'Brien, of Mendham.

The future groom is son of Robert Porter, who was raised in New Milford and later lived on Candlewood Isle for 14 years, and Ellen Porter, of Ipswich, Mass.; the grandson of Libby Knowles Porter, who spent 90 years in New Milford, and Leigh Porter, originally from Bethel, who lived 52 years in New Milford after their 1946 marriage; and great-grandson of Charles and Helen McArthur Knowles, who settled in New Milford in the early 20th century.

Andrew spent many summers on Candlewood Lake with his father and worked those summers at Candlewood East Marina.

The future husband and wife each hold graduate school degrees.

He is an associate at the Wall Street law firm of Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCoy LLP. She works for American Express in New York.

The couple resides in lower Manhattan.

A 2018 wedding is planned.
